The new header picture is stunning. I must say, you have such life and love in these photos - - especially the last few images in the post. It's absolutely beautiful to see. I love that you are shooting both close up and far away - the little elements and the bigger picture. It's what makes what you are capturing complete. As for what makes a photo great? I don't know the formula, but I know anything you capture should tell a story ;-)
